When Battlestar Gallactica started filming in 2006, it was the last time the original cast, including David Duchovny, could reunite on the big screen.
Since then, many fans have wanted to see the original show’s star, Chris Evans, reprise his role as the legendary captain.
A lot of fans have been hoping that this new season would include Evans, who was cast in the role after the original series ended, but he has been absent since 2013.
That’s when the producers made a deal with Sony Pictures Television and Fox Searchlight Pictures to keep Evans in the show.
But after the show ran its first season in 2015, many of those fans were furious.
Some were so upset that the series ended before Evans could return, they started a petition on Change.org, demanding the show return.
In response, the producers told Ars that they are trying to do whatever they can to bring Evans back, but they also acknowledged that the actor’s absence had caused a lot of frustration.
“We’re trying to bring Chris back as soon as we can, but at this point, we have to make sure he’s on the right plane,” said Sony Pictures Entertainment spokesperson Matt Lloyd.
“If we can’t get him back, then he’s not coming back.”
So, is Evans’ absence in the new season a result of his character being killed off by the new movie?
Or does it have more to do with the lack of Evans?
It’s unclear.
The producers said they are “working on the issue,” but they said it’s not clear whether Evans will be playing the captain again in the film or in the series.
There is no word on what role Evans will have in the movie, but the showrunners have said that he will be back.
“This is our first movie with Chris Evans,” said the producers.
“Chris is our star, and we are working to bring him back as the captain.
We have a lot more work to do, and there are still a lot to do.”
