The Defiance TV series was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding drama series last week, but its cast and staff are rallying behind the show’s co-creator and executive producer, J.J. Abrams.
Abrams, who created the series, shared a video on his Instagram account that was shared nearly 1 million times on Monday.
Abrams said the series was a love letter to the fans, but he added that it also reflects his own life experiences and that it’s about “what it means to be a good man.”
“I’m a very good man,” Abrams said.
“It’s not a story of me and my love of life.
It’s not about the life I lead.
It was not about anything I do or my family.
I’m a good guy.”
Abrams said he loves writing and directing the show.
“I am not ashamed of it,” Abrams added.
“You have to be honest with yourself about the people you’re working with.
I have to make sure I’m making the right choices and that the characters and the stories are the right ones. “
What it means is, I love writing and I love directing.
“So, that’s what Defiance is. “
That’s what it means. “
So, that’s what Defiance is.
We’re for the fans.” “
We’re not a show for the people who can’t take the heat, because we’re not that kind of show.
We’re for the fans.”
Abrams also shared some of his thoughts on the show being nominated for a second Emmy.
“There’s so much negativity out there about the Emmy nominations,” Abrams told Variety.
And I’m proud of the Emmys because I think that it means something. “
That’s really important.
Abrams said in the video. “
In a world where you can’t be a superhero, you can make a movie that is good and we can’t make a film that is bad, it’s a way for people to say, ‘Wow, what’s going on here?'”
Abrams said in the video.
“But in a world that’s so obsessed with what people want to see and how they can see it, we can do both.
We can make films that are good and people can be proud of.”
Defiance star Jessica Biel and executive producers Adam and Michelle King also shared their appreciation for the nominations.
“Thank you, JJJ, for the hard work and dedication that you put into the show,” Biel tweeted.
“Its the most rewarding show on television and I will be honored to be on Defiance.”
“We love you and the show and the crew,” King wrote.
“Congrats JJJ!
We know you will keep doing great stuff and making great movies and everything in between!”
